The clients for this Austin residence asked JKLA to redesign their front entry and to pull together an existing covered porch and trellis for their back patio with a new railing and new furnishings.

Using a 3D model to help the clients visualize the proposed changes, we studied three optional configurations for stairs and a planter at the front entry. The clients chose a curving stone-wrapped planter, stone steps that melt into the lawn, and a steel planter that wraps the side of the porch. Moveable pots in three sizes add seasonal variety.

To unify the existing decking, wood trellis and brick on the back patio, JKLA suggested a neutral taupe concrete stain and dark metal frames for the furnishings. We reserved the use of bright  colors for the cushions, offering a few options that would work well against the colors in the brick.
